On October 20, 2025, President Yang Wanming of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with Alberto Blanco Silva, Cuban Ambassador to China, at the CPAFFC.

President Yang emphasized that China and Cuba are not only good friends but also strong allies and partners. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 65 years ago, China-Cuba relations have continued to deepen, becoming a model of unity and cooperation among socialist nations and a shining example of sincere mutual support between developing countries. Last month, President Xi Jinping met with Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, who was in China to attend the commemorative event marking the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The two leaders held another meeting, further clarifying the direction and making plans for the next phase of building a China-Cuba community with a shared future. During the friendly exchange event hosted by the CPAFFC to celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations, President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez personally presented the Cuban Government's "Friendship Medal" to me, which was an immense source of pride and encouragement for me and my colleagues. The CPAFFC remains committed to supporting Cuba's socialist development and, together with Cuban counterparts, defend international fairness and justice, further advancing the enduring and fruitful special friendship between two countries.
Ambassador Alberto Blanco Silva expressed his gratitude to the CPAFFC for successfully organizing the celebration of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations and conveyed warm congratulations from Fernando González Llort, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, on President Yang receiving the "Friendship Medal". He noted that, in the midst of a world marked by complex changes, China, as a key member of the Global South and the largest developing country, remains resolute in championing the rise and revitalization of Global South countries, leading their unity, cooperation, and development. Cuba sincerely appreciates China's understanding and support for its just cause and is actively enhancing cooperation in areas such as food security, new energy, biotechnology, digitalization and cybersecurity, as well as culture and tourism. Going forward, the Cuban Embassy in China will continue to work closely with the CPAFFC to strengthen the ties of friendship between the two peoples and contribute to building a China-Cuba community with a shared future.
Shen Xin, Vice President of the CPAFFC and Mario Alzugaray, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Cuba in China, were present at the meeting.
