On October 22, 2025, President Yang Wanming of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with Roh Jae-heon, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to China, at the CPAFFC.

President Yang Wanming congratulated Ambassador Roh Jae-heon on his new appointment and emphasized that China and the ROK are important neighbors and cooperation partners. Over the 33 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have achieved substantial results in exchanges and cooperation across various fields, benefiting both nations and their peoples. In June this year, during a phone call between President Xi Jinping and President Lee Jae-myung, President Xi Jinping highlighted that a sound, stable, and steadily deepening China-ROK relationship aligns with the trends of the times, serves the fundamental interests of two peoples, and contributes to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and globally. President Yang noted that China-ROK relations are currently at a crucial stage of improvement and development. The CPAFFC will continue to work closely with the ROK side to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, stay true to the original aspiration of establishing diplomatic relations, remain committed to the principles of good-neighborliness and friendship, and uphold the goal of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. He emphasized the importance of continuously enhancing mutual understanding and trust, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, deepening friendship between the two peoples, and elevating the China-ROK strategic cooperative partnership to new heights.
Ambassador Roh Jae-heon expressed his gratitude to the CPAFFC for its long-standing role at the forefront of people-to-people exchanges between China and the ROK, making positive contributions to deepening practical cooperation and fostering goodwill between the two countries. He stated that he chose the CPAFFC as his first official visit after assuming office to acknowledge its important work. Ambassador Roh Jae-heon emphasized that the establishment of diplomatic relations between the ROK and China was a historic achievement, jointly led by the leaders of two countries. Since then, the bilateral relationship has made remarkable progress, which is rare in international relations. He expressed hope that the upcoming APEC meeting in Gyeongju would serve as an opportunity for significant high-level exchanges, guiding the future development of bilateral relations. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in China is ready to strengthen cooperation with the CPAFFC and carry out more joint projects in areas such as subnational government, youth, and culture, further advancing the positive and steady development of ROK-China relations.
Zhu Dan, Director-General of the Department of East Asian Affairs of the CPAFFC, and Ryu In-sik, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in China, were present at the meeting.
